Teens in grades 7-8
Jr. Leaders Club is a program designed to develop volunteerism, leadership, physical fitness, and teamwork in teens. And of course, tons of fun! Members attend club meetings, perform community service, and participate in physical activities and youth rallies throughout the year.
Qualified members (age 13 by June 1) attend Blue Ridge Leaders School in Black Mountain, NC for one week.

What is the Model United Nations? A Model United Nations is an exciting, educational strategy for middle school students to learn about global issues. Participants assume the roles of diplomatic representatives to the U.N. as they consider contemporary international concerns. Through this role-playing event, participants develop greater understanding of world problems and the complexity of international relations.

Go. Serve. Learn. Lead. Go Global Youth Travel Programs are educational experiences that focus on social responsibility in North Carolina for middle school teens. This middle school trip is a great opportunity to make a difference in people's lives while having fun with other teens and seeing the sights in the area.

Leaders Club teen program emphasizes teamwork, physical fitness, leadership, volunteerism and fun. Certain requirements must be met during the school year to determine eligibilty for a week-long conference at Blue Ridge Assembly in Black Mountain, N.C.

Youth & Government ("YAG") is a club open to students at Broughton and Athens Drive schools. This program prepares teens for moral and political leadership through learning the theory and practice of developing public policy. The club will progress toward state wide mock legislative conference in February. Members are encouraged to attend the conference.

Teens in grades 8-12 who are committed to setting and pursuing high education and career goals. We also need Adult Achievers committed to serving as role models.
The Clarence E. Lightner YMCA Achievers is a fellowship-oriented program where minority teens meet, learn from each other, travel and take part in local service projects. Teens are partnered with successful minority role models who provide academic and career-related mentoring and support services.

Work as a YMCA youth counselor in an active, creative and encouraging environment. Employees have the privilege of an Alexander YMCA membership at no cost. Programs are held at the Alexander YMCA and various locations. Those interested must submit an application, interview for the position and attend staff training.
