Y-Life is an exciting Thursday evening program offered to students living in low-income housing neighborhoods. While at the YMCA, children participate in a time of character and skill development. Our elementary age children participate in swim lessons and sports clinics while our middle schoolers have time to work out in the weight room and play pick-up basketball.
YMCA counselors lead all activities though we would love to have volunteers to assist in all activities and to serve as role models for our children.
The YMCA provides transportation for these children to come from their neighborhoods to the YMCA.
Training Required: Each volunteer will need to meet with our Outreach Director prior to volunteering in a Y-Learning program. He/she will also need to complete an application, go through a background check, and complete a 45 minute online training on child abuse prevention.
Schedule: Y-Life will operate on Thursday evenings from October 1 to December 17 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Volunteers need to commit to attending either every Thursday or every other Thursday evening for the eight-week session.
